Anbernic RG Slide goes on sale for $179.99

The Anbernic RG Slide is officially on sale for an early-bird price of $179.99. The first reviews are starting to trickle out, too, from the likes of Retro Game Corps and RetroDodo.

Handhelds Daily Quick Review: Anbernic RG35XX Pro

The Anbernic RG35XX Pro is a compact vertical handheld built around a 3.5" display and a full set of controls, including dual analog sticks. It doesn’t try to do or be anything new—it just refines what has already been proven to work with the previous XX devices. The D-pad is good, the face buttons are well-tuned, and even smaller elements like the start and select buttons have been improved with a softer, more satisfying feeling. Performance is pretty much perfect across all retro systems up to PlayStation 1, with some compatibility for Dreamcast, Saturn, and Nintendo 64. The analog sticks do suffer from the familiar cardinal snapping issue, though this can be (and has been) fixed with custom firmware.

The build quality is solid, the form factor remains compact despite the added sticks, and the 4:3 screen is bright and sharp. The stock OS is basic but functional, and I’m a big fan of it.

There’s nothing really standout about the RG35XX Pro, but the execution is consistent and reliable, much like the previous XX line entries. The Pro doesn’t reinvent the formula—it simply adds more an control flexibility while keeping everything that made the original so lovable and dependable.

Donkey Kong Bonanza demo spotted in US retail stores

A demo for Donkey Kong Bananza, an upcoming exclusive for the Nintendo Switch 2, has been seen at retail kiosks in stores like Walmart and Target throughout the US. The full game, featuring 3D platforming gameplay, is slated for release on July 17, 2025.

3rd party titles didn’t sell well during the Switch 2 launch

The Nintendo Switch 2 launch was the largest console launch ever, selling 3.5 million units in days, but third-party game sales were disappointing, with 62% of US physical game sales and 48% in the UK from first-party titles, excluding the Mario Kart World bundle. Cyberpunk 2077 performed well, while others fell below expectations
