Anbernic certainly seems to have heard the voices of passionate passionate fans of the Sony PSP Go and Xperia Play, as they tease a new sliding form-factor handheld, tentatively named the RG Slide.

Anbernic's latest OTA update for the RG557 introduces a custom AI app with features like a gaming-focused chatbot, live translation for foreign-language games, and AI-driven image editing and analysis. AI is a big technology trend right now, but including it on a handheld gaming device is an odd choice.

The retro handheld market seems to be growing at an dizzying pace, and the latest proof of that is with USA retailer Best Buy, who are now stocking Anbernic devices, albeit at a hefty premium.

The long-lost Chocobo Racing minigame from Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII, a Japan-exclusive mobile title, has been preserved by hackers and the Keitai Wiki Discord community, recovering files from a P900iV phone to restore this piece of Final Fantasy history.
